Located just 20 miles up the coast, Refugio beach is a gentle cove lined with date palms.  The Chumash called Refugio "Qasil" meaning beautiful, and this historic beach once served as a central port between the island and inland native populations.  Paddling Refugio is truly an extraordinary experience.  This tour will take you through lush kelp forests, past secluded beaches, and offers a unique vantage point of the majestic coastline locals have fought hard to protect.  The Gaviota coast is home to sea otters, dolphins, sea lions, and many species of sea birds that will cross your path.  Our friendly, knowledgeable guides will take you on an unforgettable kayak adventure, rich with cultural and natural history of this special stretch of coastline.
